March 7 2009 60th Birthday Celebrations of Sri Bhagavan The Day of Oneness

March 7 2009 60th Birthday Celebrations of Sri Bhagavan The Day of Oneness : It is on the sacred day of March 7, 1949 that Sri Bhagavan was born as the eldest son of the blessed couple Smt. Vaidharbhi Amma and Sri Varadarajulu in Nattham, a small village of Tamil Nadu, during the Rohini Nakshatram. Sri Bhagavan’s birthday is celebrated every year in a very special way by devotees all over. Every year on this sacred occasion, devotees experience grace stepping up in their lives. Singing and Praising His glory through bhajans and sankeertans, devotees across towns and cities have special functions and processions to celebrate the birthday of their beloved Sri Bhagavan.

This birthday celebration becomes even more glorious when one is blessed with the good fortune of performing abhishek to the divine padukas (representation of the Feet of the Divine) of Sri Amma Bhagavan, because doing abhishek to the divine Padukas is like worshipping the feet of Sri Amma Bhagavan themselves. Sri Amma Bhagavan resides in the hearts of millions of devotees as their Antaryamin, fulfilling their desires, sought as well as unsought.

This year is a very special year as this March 7th marks the 60th Birthday of Sri Bhagavan (popularly known as ‘Shashti Poorti’ in India). A person’s 60th Birthday is celebrated with great festivity as it marks a new chapter in a person’s life. And the 60th Birthday of a Divine Avatar is a very significant landmark in the evolution of mankind itself.

It is on this special occasion that devotees in every home, every village, every city, and every country are celebrating Sri Bhagavan’s birthday. The celebrations started from Jan 7th 2009 and would continue for 60 days till March 7th 2009. Sri Amma Bhagavan’s Divine Padukas will be worshiped with great splendor through puja, archana and abhishek. During these 60 days, devotees will experience a downpour of Sri Amma Bhagavan’s grace and miracles as they perform these rituals. One would get the good fortune of several life times by participating in this auspicious occasion. Blessed will be those who witness and participate in this 60 day festival.

Contemplative Questions

Here is a set of questions that would provoke you and put you through some soul searching. They are not about religion nor about ethics. They are merely about you.

They are not meant to serve as solutions nor are they meant to lead you anywhere. These questions are meant to serve as tools to discovering yourself.

1) Do you perceive the Presence of a benevolent force guiding, protecting and shaping your life? What name do you give that Presence? When did you best feel this Presence?

2) What is your opinion of God? Is your opinion drawn from religion, books, parents and or your personal experience of life?

3) Do you pray? Do they get answered? How often?

4) Do you think it is possible to relate to the Divine? What relationship would you opt?

5) Here is a story for you - Two fierce enemies once did a penance to placate god and receive boons vying with each other. God appeared to the first man and asked what he wanted. He said "give me twice of whatever you give my enemy". Then God appeared to the second one. Even before God could say anything he asked, "God, would you please tell me what my enemy asked for? On knowing his prayer request, he said, "then God, blind me in one eye."
Now what would you wish for yourself, your best friend and your worst enemy if God gave you a chance?

6) Have you ever experienced a coincidence or chance that seems to have involved so many people and factors that you can't stop wondering if a mastermind was behind this operation? If yes, do you savour the experience often and have you shared it with someone close to you?
